I'll come right out with it: I think Karis is saying "mama"!!!!

And now for the details. About a week ago, Karis was sitting on Josh's lap in the living room. She was already tired and getting hungry. I walked over to her to pick her up, and she threw her arms up to me and yelled, "ma!" Josh and I looked at each other in shock. "Did she say what I think she said?" "Yeah, but does she know what she said?" So after that, I started saying "mommy" to her every chance I got.

Well, several days ago, during another one of her needy spells, she did it again, except this time, it was clear that she was looking at me and calling me. She was even saying it right and repeating it: "mama...mama...mama.." You get the picture.

At first, I wrote it off that she was just trying out new syllables. (She's been saying "ba" a lot lately, too.) But now I'm pretty convinced that she knows who I am and definitely knows how to get my attention. She's still pretty stingy with it, though. I don't think she said it at all today. But it just makes me beam with joy to hear our little girl call for me. We're working on the "da-ddy" part now. I'm just its just around the corner.
